The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust signed a long-term agreement to CIRIS today.

The Trust serves a population of around 500,000 and has a turnover of £200m. It employs over 4,000 members of staff across two hospital services and the community and has 900 beds and 18 theatres. The Trust provides district wide elective services for orthopaedics, cardiology, vascular, urology and ophthalmology.

The Trust appears regularly in the top quartile of acute trusts for patient safety, access times, use of resources and infection control and received a 'Good' for its quality of services and 'Excellent' for Use of Resources as part of the Healthcare Commission’s Annual Healthcheck.

The Trust is one of five Foundation Trusts that have been shortlisted for Acute Organisation of the Year by Health Service Journal as part of its 2008 annual awards, the winner of which will be announced in December.
